Family Programs Hawaiʻi is a unique non-profit agency remaining true to its origins of providing quality care to the children of Hawaiʻi. Our goal is that every child in Hawaiʻi has the opportunity to reach his or her full potential - especially children who are in or may become involved in foster care.
The Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Program seeks community volunteers to serve as CASA/GAL advocates. CASA/GALs are trained and supervised by the Judiciary's CASA program to protect and advocate for the best interest of children in foster care. The Court appoints the CASA/GALs to gather information about the children and then advocate to ensure their safety, health, and well-being. CASA/GALs duties include minimally one face-to-face meeting monthly with the children, attending court hearings and meetings to address the children's needs, and generating court reports with recommended services for the children and family.
